A lot of our beta tester requested us a quickstart, therefore we thought it would be a shame not to share it with all of you.
First of all, let's take a moment to describe what Marketcloud can do for you and your business. In minutes from your account registration, you can use our API and dashboard. This way you will have an easy to use interface for your e-commerce data, and a simple method to access it in your application.
We have already implemented all the functionalities you need in our REST API, and we keep adding new methods every week. Today Addresses, Carts and Orders endpoints have been added to our family.
Enough with the chitchat. Let's see how our beta users are exploring the power of the Marketcloud's api. First of all log in Marketcloud's platform from here.
Now you can use your credentials and be redirected to the admin dashboard. If you don't have a beta key, request one now. What are you waiting for?
The admin dashboard allows you to create and manage your applications. By clicking on the "+" icon, a modal will appear. Creating a new application is as easy as writing its name in the input box. The url is an optional parameteres, since you won't need it for your mobile applications. Once you confirm the informations, you will be able to see your brand new app in the dashboard.
The green bar indicates how many API calls are left for the application, which is also indicated with that big fat number (5000/5000). On the top right corner of the app, you can see the icon which will give us access to
- General Information
- Api Key Manager
- Collaborators Manager
- App Dashboard
which is basically a menu for all the stuff you can do with your application. If you think the design could be improved, once again let us know! I'll never stop asking for feedbacks.
The information panel has some useful informations about the status of your app, such as the creationand the renew date, storage usage and the plan you activated for this app. Right now, only thebeta plan is available.
Clicking on Api Keys, you will be able to create and manage the public and secret keys connected to your app. You can create keys with different access, just read or read+write right now, and label them with a name to remeber whom is assigned.
The Dashboard link will take you to the data dashboard, the one which allow you to manage all the data of your shop. We couldn't come out with a better name. Again, if you have some suggestion,LET US KNOW! It's just a beta version, and right now only allows the creation and manipulation of a product with a custom attributes.
Now that we have one product on the application, I'd love to see that on a mobile app. How? We will show how to do it in the second part of our awesome Quickstart with Marketcloud series.
